I have found the program useful in the following ways:
Converting a Nobeltec export track to Google Earth for display. The mapping program Oziexplorer can also do this, with a utility available from the Ozi web site that will read Nobeltec tracks and waypoints.Nobeltec can be used to download tracks from your GPS for conversion to Google Earth by this utility. (Oziexplorer can do this more simply, as can Google Earth Plus, if you are a subscriber.)
Converting a Nobeltec export track to Oziexplorer track and back again. This is handy for all kinds of editing and cleanup purposes on Nobeltec tracks. Corrupt data points can be deleted, exessive data can be filtered out, broken tracks rejoined. Just about anything conceivable can be done in Ozi, and the corrected file converted back to Nobeltec. The Ozi utility mentioned above will read Nobeltec tracks and waypoints, but it throws away the time stamps, which my utility preserves. These time stamps can be useful and I didn't want to lose them. As well, Oziexplorer can't save tracks in the Nobeltec format.
Creating a track from old data from the past. I have assembled many tracks from old logbooks and other records. You can't enter track points into Nobeltec directly, but there are powerful features provided for entering and editing routes. Unfortunately there isn't a way provided to convert a route to a track, and route files are huge cumbersome things that don't display very well. This utility can convert your hand-assembled routes into tracks.
None of the above is to be taken as a criticism of Oziexplorer, a great and constantly-evolving program and one I highly recommend.
